My Makeup Staples

befunky-collage

My favourite primer is the Optical Illusion Complexion Primer by Urban Decay. It leaves a lovely silky matte finish and keeps your makeup in place all day!

The MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 has been in my makeup bag since I can remember! I have branched out and tested other foundations, but I either find them too drying or too oily… The Studio Fix Fluid foundation is perfect for combination skin and has all day coverage.

I looooooove the Laura Mercier  Translucent Loose Setting Powder. It keeps your makeup in place all day and stops your mascara from smudging under your eyes. I would highly recommend (if you haven’t already got it).

When it comes to a bronzer, I am yet to find my favourite. So, suggestions are welcome! At the moment I am using the Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in Golden Light. This bronzer is fab, but just a little too orange toned for me.

Moving on to highlighter, the Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight-01 is beautiful. It blends perfectly and stays all day. However, after seeing the Lottie London Shimmer Squad highlight pallet EVERYWHERE and hearing such amazing things, I had to try it, and I must say, it is perfect and has a good selection of colours. I highly recommend.

Eyebrows. My favourite favourite favourite eyebrow kit is the Dark Brow Kit by Bobbi Brown. I got this in New York over a year ago and am yet to hit pan which is amazing considering I use it every day.

My favourite eyeshadow palette at the moment is the Dusk til Dawn palette by NYX. It has a fab variety of light and dark colours. The shadows are very pigmented and blend perfectly. I’ve been using this every day this month.

The Liquidlast Liner by MAC is another product that has been a staple in my makeup bag for years. It is by far THE BEST long wear eyeliner I have ever used… It even stays on in the shower. I love it.

A mascara I have been using for years is the Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara. I have branched out to other mascaras but always end up re-buying this.

As for my favourite lipstick, Paramount by MAC is a lipstick I have been using for a few years now, it’s a lovely rusty red and can be worn day and night. I think I’ve re-purchased this around four times now…

Forever21 Review

I may have gone a bit crazy on the Forever21 website last week, so I thought why not review everything I got! My wardrobe is very monochrome based, so a few of these items are extremely out of my comfort zone…

befunky-collagebefunky-colrlage

  1. Plus Size Off-The-Shoulder Top £16 Originally I was unsure about this top – it reminds me of something you’d see in a charity shop window – but I was wrong! This top is so flattering and looks lovely paired with black skinny jeans and heels. 4/5
  2. Plus Size Floral Sweatshirt £16 I’m a sucker for a sweatshirt! Ask anyone, I’m always wearing a sweatshirt – they’re my comfort blanket. However, this one was not for me. The pattern was too much and reminded me of pajamas. 1/5
  3. Plus Size Off-The-Shoulder Top £15 I cannot tell you how long I’ve been looking for a long sleeve stripped bardot top!! I defo hit the jackpot with this one – 100% a new favourite of mine. 5/5
  4. Contemporary Medallion Lace Top £19 Finding the perfect white top has been quite an issue for me… I’m still searching. 2/5
  5. Contemporary You + Me Shirt £15 I don’t often invest in tops that have words on them, but I thought this one was super cute! 5/5
  6. Plus Size Stripe Sweater £15 Like I said above… sucker for a sweatshirt. 5/5
  7. Plus Size Off-The-Shoulder Top £16 A plain white bardot, can’t go wrong! 5/5
  8. Plus Size Ruffled Tee £9 I was unsure about this tee as it’s short sleeved – I tend to go for long sleeved tops. It’s safe to say I should’ve followed my gut feeling. 2/5
  9. Plus Size Brooklyn Sweatshirt £15 This sweatshirt reminded me of something you’d see in a 90’s chick flick. I love it! It’s great for a casual day and it’s super cosy!

That’s it! I’ll definitely be ordering from Forever21 again… even though the postage took 7 days and the parcel got delivered to a pick up point that I had to get a taxi to… *insert eye roll emoji*

My Autumn/Winter Staples

It’s finally here! My favourite time of the year! Nothing beats layering up and not having to worry about your makeup melting off of your face…

I’ve put together a few of my AW18 staples that will be seeing me through the colder months.

1. The teddy bear coat (New Look, £29.99): I’ve already seen a million teddy bear coats this AW so I wasted no time in getting my hands on one! Primark do a coat very similar to this one from New Look for the a bargain price of £20!!

2. The button up cardigan (ASOS, £35.00): This was one of my AW17 staples and I’m very happy to see it back! I like to wear mine as a jumper. I always size up in these! They’re fab for layering and are super cosy!

3. The tartan trousers (New Look, £22.99): tartan trousers are a great way to add some pattern and colour to your outfit. These look super cute with an oversized jumper and boots!

4. The jumper dress (Missguided, £28.00): you can’t go wrong with a jumper dress to see you through the colder months. I like to wear mine with an oversized scarf and boots. They can also be dressed up so are perfect for day to night.

5. The blanket scarf (ASOS, £18.00): Asos do THE BEST oversized blanket scarfs! I order one every year and they last forever! These can also be used as a shawl.

6. The boots (New Look, £29.99): Nothing beats a pair of black boots! I found these in the New Look wise fit section. I prefer to buy my winter boots in wide fit so I can wear my fluffy socks!

New Look Curves Review

Back in the day when I worked for New Look their Curves range was very uninspiring. It’s defo come a long way since then! I don’t order from New Look a lot as I find their clothing very hit and miss. Their shoes on the other hand, are amazing!

Here’s what I purchased in my most recent New Look order…

1. White stripe button through shirt: I have seen these New Look shirts literally EVERYWHERE. When I saw this top available in the Curve range I instantly added it to my basket! This top is super flattering and I highly recommend… even if half of England is wearing the same top as you!

2. White rainbow Brooklyn embroidered t-shirt: When it comes to a classic slogan t-shirt, I’m a sucker. However, you’ll notice a running theme throughout this post… New Look t-shirts are too long! Literally, I could wear this t-shirt as a dress.

3. Black tassel trim boxy t-shirt: when I saw this t-shirt I wasn’t 100% sold on it. I love the tassel look, I just wasn’t too sure it would suit me. I was proved wrong… I love this t-shirt! And it’s not too long! New Look boxy t-shirts aren’t as long fitting as the other styles so I defo recommend shopping their boxy fit tops if you’re a bit on the short side like me!

4. Bright orange New York slogan t-shirt: this top is completely out of my comfort zone. When it came I loved the colour and I loved the print. However, it was too long.

5. Black stripe tie waist culottes: These trousers are fab! I have a few pairs of Bengaline trousers from New Look, but I had never tried their culottes before. These are defo a summer staple for me!

6. Black ciao slogan t-shirt: This top has me written all over it! A plain black t-shirt with a cute slogan… perfect! I went 2 sizes up in this for a super oversized fit. It seems the bigger the size, the longer the top. This was literally a dress on me. But I loved it so much I kept it to wear as a dress. How cute will this look with trainers and a denim jacket!

So, true to its hit and miss reputation New Look sizes are not consistent and their tops come up waaaaay too long. I ended up keeping 4/6 items from this order.

ASOS 20% Off: What I Ordered

Like everyone else, I’m a sucker for a good discount code! So when ASOS advertised 20% off of EVERYTHING it was time for me to buy everything saved to my favourites!

A majority of the items I ordered we tops… you can never have too many options.

1. Long sleeve t-shirt with rainbow print: I love an oversized long sleeve t-shirt! They look fab with the sleeves rolled up and under a denim a jacket. When I saw this top I just had to have it! The white colour did put me off slightly, but a stain is nothing a bit of vanish can’t fix! Overall, I love this top and how it fits. I did size up for a more oversized look.

2. Oversized wrap blouse with dip hem: I’ve been eyeing up this top for a while now. There also a florals design available, but me being me I went with black. I love how this top fits! It’s super flattering and can be worn casually or dressed up!

3. Boxy t-shirt with lace trim detail in stripe: I love love LOVE this top. I find boxy fit tops to be the best style for my body shape. I wasn’t 100% sure on the lace trim, but it really does make the top!

4. Relaxed t-shirt with somebody loves me print: With travelling to LA being the most recent addition to my bucket list I just HAD to get this top. I’ve worn it a couple of times now and always get compliments on it. It’s just the right amount of quirky.

5. Tapered leg with contrast bind in mono aztec print: I love how these trousers look on the model… unfortunately I’m not 5’11 and these literally dragged on the floor when put on my 5’6 body.

6. Sweatshirt with tiger print: This is by far my favourite item from this order!! Sweatshirts are my number one staple and this looks fab with some funky trousers!

7. Boyfriend shirt in red and navy check: I’ve been searching for the prefect flannel shirt for a while now, so when I saw this on the ASOS new in page I had to have it (even if it did mean dipping into the joint account… oops)!

8. T-shirt with floral embroidery: Who doesn’t love an embroidered top?! Over the past year I’ve had 3 tops from ASOS similar to this one, but this is my all time favourite! The pattern is lovely and the colours give it a slight oriental feel. I sized up in this for an oversized look.

My ASOS Summer Essentials

Personally, I hate the summer. To me, there is nothing worse than not being able to wear my black Topshop Joni jeans and a big jumper from ASOS! I’m slowly coming to terms with the fact I’m going to have to venture out of my comfort zone if I want to feel comfortable during the British hot summer days.

Below are a few of my ASOS summer staples!

1. A denim jacket. The blue denim jacket is a classic summer staple! You can tie it around your waist and use it to keep you warm in the cool evenings.

2. Wide leg trousers. Wide leg trousers are the most comfortable staple for me! They’re loose fitting, flattering and best of all… chub-rub resistant!!

3. An oversized top. During the summer I live in oversized tops! They’re great and can be used to layer during the colder seasons meaning they never go out of fashion!

4. The perfect jumpsuit/playsuit. I don’t know about you, but I always struggle to find a jumpsuit that fits me perfectly. That is, until I discovered ASOS jumpsuits! Jumpsuits are easy to throw on and go for those last minute pub trips with your friends!

5. An easy to wear dress. an easy to wear dress is a summer must have! Pair it with some sandals and sunglasses and you’re good to go!

6. A shirt dress. I’ve always been a sucker for a shirt dress! You can wear them casually and dress them up.

ASOS Curve Must Haves February 2017

Like most of the female population, I love a good ASOS order. I can’t help myself, I’m always waiting for the next ‘new in’ product to appear on the website. Being a size 16/18 I shop ASOS and ASOS Curve. This post is dedicated to ASOS Curve, Here are a few of my favourites this month.

befunky-collage

First, we have the ASOS CURVE Cropped Metallic Cagoule Jackett. At £45 it’s not cheap, but I’d say it’s worth the money! The looks you’ll get when you’re wearing this will be worth the splurge. It’s perfect for the festival season!

Next up is a classic band tee. ASOS CURVE Boyfriend T-Shirt With Misfits Print. This is a bargain for only £18! Let’s face it, everyone’s wearing band tees whether they’ve heard of the band or not. They’re easy to dress up or down and look fab with a classic denim jacket thrown over the top!

I’m sure you’re not shocked to see a striped top in the mix. ASOS CURVE Oversized Striped Long Sleeve T-Shirt. This is an essential that everyone should have in their wardrobe and for only £14, it’s pretty much a must have. This particular striped top is long line, so if you’re a bit on the short size (like me) you can go a size or two up and wear it as a dress – even better! I love wearing this with tights, a pair of black boots, and a red lip. It’s such a classic look – you can’t go wrong with stripes a red lipstick!

Mom jeans. How do people live without a pair of mom jeans to throw on?! My ASOS CURVE Farleigh Mom Jeans in Washed Black have been a staple in my wardrobe for over a year now. These jeans look fab with a black body suit and heels for a night out or an oversized jumper and trainers on a chill day.

And finally, my favourite splurge of the month… the ASOS CURVE Premium Embroidered Shift Dress. I’ll be honest, when I saw the £65 I spent on this dress leave my bank account, I had a little bit of buyers guilt… But, once it arrived and I put it on, the guilt quickly disappeared. This dress is gorgeous! It can be worn for all occasions and is something you’ll be able to wear more than once.
